The Prime: Feeling lost in the system?

7 May 2024

We read an article recently that talked about “job search depression”. That feeling of being completely lost in the system after applying for role after role to no avail.

It’s a common and very real situation that many job seekers find themselves in. Whether it be multiple rejection letters in a row or an interview gone terribly wrong, the stress of looking for a new job can take its toll.

At Prime Recruitment we pride ourselves on looking after our candidates by understanding their strengths and skill set, as well as their job search expectations. In doing so, we aim to find the right role for you as soon as possible.

However, if landing the right role is taking longer than you had hoped and you’re starting to feel elements of job search depression, here’s some tips that might help:

  1. Keep a log of the jobs you’ve applied for, including the interviews you’ve attended, and reflect on what worked and what could be improved.
  2. Take a step back and reassess whether you’re applying for the right roles.  Do they match your specific skill set and needs?
  3. Request feedback to determine the reasons you may have missed out on being selected. It may be something completely out of your control and therefore not to be taken personally.

More than anything though, if you feel your mental health is suffering take a break and lean on friends and family for help. Looking after your mental health and wellbeing is essential.
